ST. GEORGE -- A 64-year-old woman was uninjured after driving her vehicle into a Chili's Bar & Grill Sunday.

The woman was parked in a stall in front of the restaurant along Red Cliffs Drive, and at 4:40 p.m. inadvertently pressed the gas pedal instead of the brakes while attempting to reverse out of the stall, according to restaurant patrons who interacted with the driver after the accident.

"A few of us who were eating inside ran out to see if she was all right, and she said, ‘I didn't mean to. I thought I was pressing the brake,'" said restaurant patron Kyle Neva.

"At first, we had thought someone had dropped a tray of glasses or something," Neva continued. "Then the building started to shake; my first thought was that it was an earthquake, until I saw a whole bunch of dust and the wall sticking out."

The vehicle, a Ford Edge, jumped the curb and went through the side of the restaurant, damaging awnings, windows, a section of the wall and a bench. There were no injuries and the restaurant remained open for business.

"The funny part was when the car got taken away, there was very little damage to it," Neva said. "It was built Ford tough."

Police are not releasing the name of the driver at this time.
