Coach
Head coach Kory Bosgieter enters his fourth year as head coach of Fremont's football team. He has a 17-16 record with the Silver Wolves and a 66-57 record in 13 seasons as a head coach. He is a graduate of Bonneville High.Offense (8 returning starters)
Running back Nick Vigil, wide receiver Rowdy Stucki and tight end Brock Smith lead an experienced offense. Key to the team's success is how junior quarterback Jordan Preator will take over the starting role. He did run the offense in a game against Roy and for a few plays in the state championship game.Defense (6 returning starters)
The Silver Wolves have an experienced defensive line with Jake Gallegos, Josh Talbot, Luke Hollingsworth and Lloyd Stephens returning. Lloyd had 7.5 sacks, while Hollingsworth had five sacks. Preator played safety last year and had three interceptions.

"We come to work every day, no matter what the weather is or anything else, and we go hard every day," said Nick Vigil, who set himself apart last season when he rushed for 1,744 yards and 18 touchdowns as the team went undefeated in region play and then worked its way to the championship game.

Defensive lineman Lloyd Stephens put it this way: "During a game, we'll hit you in the mouth, but we're gentlemen off the field."

Their coach praises them for their ability to come to practice and work hard the entire time.

"I like your business-like approach," he said, smiling.

And then he elaborates, "We're not afraid to work. Look around here, there are no big buildings. (Blue collar) is part of our identity. The kids understand it and they believe in it. It carries us through adversity."

Bosgieter points out that his team doesn't just work hard learning the game of football.

"We feel like we run a total program here," he said. "For example, 49 of the returning players have a 3.7 or better; 16 players have a 4.0. They're good kids. We're lucky."

And as tough and hard working as his players are, he said this year's schedule will challenge them significantly.

"Four games into this season and we'll be able to tell a lot more about us," he said. "This year just feels like a continuation of last year … But last year is last year."

The team returns much of last year's second-place team, but they say instead of pressure, they feel excitement. They are all hungry to get back to Rice-Eccles and finish the season with a win. They will not, however, look past their first game, which is at Jordan High.

"As long as we play hard every game, things will come together," Vigil said..

Adds junior quarterback Jordan Preator, who will step into a starting role this season, "No pressure, just have fun."

Bosgieter said the program enjoys a lot of community support.

"I think that is part of the reason we have such a strong tradition here," he said.

And the new region — smaller and tough top to bottom — is something the Silver Wolves are excited about.

"I think it definitely got a lot harder," said Stephens. "But we have lots of home games, and we definitely want to get back to that state championship game."
