Keith McCord Reporting Olympics Day Seven in Salt Lake City fell on Valentines Day, and yes, people did observe the special day.
In between the water spouts at the Olympic fountain at the Gateway, a young man got down on his knees and proposed. In Park City, another couple got married, outdoors, during a gentle snowfall with a flaming cauldron in the background.
Also, the skating controversy, now dubbed "Skategate", continued. On this day word came that the French judge had been pressured to vote for the Russian team, though still not proven.

Meanwhile, Canada's skating federation said it would file a protest challenging the results of the skating competition and called for a full investigation.
And Denver Post columnist, Woody Paige apologized for writing a story saying that Salt Lake had "Royally screwed up the Olympics" and calling the games a "massive Mormon marketing scheme."
Woody Paige: "I wrote something in a humorous vein that obviously wasn't funny."
His follow-up column contained an apology, and he asked Utah to "be his Valentine."
