(KSL News) Taylorsville police are still investigating the cause of a power outage that affected some seven thousand residents.

Authorities say it apears someone broke into a substation Saturday night, causing an outage that affected customers from 4100 South to 5400 South.

The outage also contributed to a wreck that sent two people to the hospital.

Margaret Oler/ Utah Power and Light: "We want people to realize electrical facilities are to be approached by authorized, trained personnel, not just anybody, for their own safety."

Last month, someone broke into another substation in Salt Lake, damaging equipment that caused a power outage for nearly four thousand people. Utah Power is offering a two thousand dollar reward for information leading to an arrest in that case. Both are still under investigation.
