SALT LAKE CITY — A gas line ruptured Monday afternoon near a Salt Lake City apartment complex, leading firefighters to evacuate one of the complex's buildings as a precaution.

An apartment resident reported the rupture to an outside gas line near 750 South and 500 East, Salt Lake City Fire Capt. Tom Burckhard said.

The entire incident was resolved within an hour, he added, and the cause of the break was not yet known.
