(KSL News) A 17-year-old boy is in serious condition after he was accidentally shot by his friend.

Kane County authorities say the teens were hanging out in a motel room in Kanab.

Two People Injured in Separate Accidental Shootings

A 19-year-old was handling a 22-caliber rifle and it accidentally went off. The 17-year-old was hit in the eye. He was rushed to a hospital in Las Vegas.

Police found illegal drugs and weapons at the scene. Authorities are questioning the 19-year-old.

Another accidental shooting injured a man at a birthday party in Taylorsville.

Investigators say two men were fighting outside. One had been released from prison last week. The other had a gun in his pants. A third man, in his early 20's, was trying to break up the fight when the gun fired. The bullet hit his arm.

The victim was taken to the hospital, treated and released a few hours later.

The 25-year-old man who owned the gun had a permit to carry the concealed weapon but was booked into jail for using a weapon during a fight. Police say about 20 people were at the party and many were drunk.
