SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson has been known for his globetrotting.
But as the mayor has announced he won't be seeking another term, his traveling has slowed.
Since the beginning of 2006, Anderson had traveled outside of Salt Lake City at least once a month, excluding one.
So far this year he has traveled about half that amount.
Anderson has taken some heat for his travels, but he insists the trips aren't junkets. He says they have helped enhance the city's reputation and he's always in touch with his office.
The mayor's travels most recently have included conferences on the environment and global warming and rallies against the Bush administration and the war in Iraq.
He may have been away more than any other mayor, but taxpayers aren't picking up the tab. Anderson says sponsors usually pay for the trips. And rare exceptions are posted on the city's Web site for people to review.
