LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- It's not a get-out-of-jail-free card. It's more of a stay-out-of-jail-on-easy-payments plan.
Anyone with outstanding or unpaid arrest warrants issued by the Logan City Municipal Justice Court can now avoid jail by taking advantage of the court's recently implemented payment plan.
In the past, offenders were required to post the full bail before the arrest warrant was recalled.
Now, a person may appear before the court and arrange a payment plan. The warrant becomes inactive pending successful completion of payments.
This allows the person to function normally in the community without having to "look over his shoulder" and worry about going to jail, police say.
