SALT LAKE CITY — Jane Blair has been selected by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to serve as the new manager for the power office in Salt Lake City, which oversees the operation and maintenance of critical hydroelectric power generation facilities in four states, including Utah.
Blair, the deputy power manager since late 2009, will be responsible for the operation of the Colorado River Storage Project's hydroelectric power generation facilities that include Flaming Gorge near Dutch John, the Glen Canyon Dam on the Colorado River near Page, Ariz., and the Blue Mesa, Morrow Point and Crystal dams on the Gunnison River, near Montrose, Colo.
A licensed professional engineer in Utah, Blair grew up in Detroit and has a bachelor's and master's degree in civil engineering.
After moving to Salt Lake City in 1979, she went to work for the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. She joined reclamation in 1981 as a civil engineer in the Upper Colorado Region Division of Design and Construction where she worked until 1989, when she joined the bureau's power office.
