Forget the hot Indy movies. Forget the buttered popcorn. State business leaders say the Sundance Film Festival is primetime for networking.
"We've got executives form Oracle, HP, Adobe - from all over the country, all over the world," Eccles told KSL Friday. "Also venture capitalists, private equity groups that come in to town special for Sundance - so it's not just film."
Eccles says the state has developed several business leads out of the festival in past years.
"To get that kind of concentration of high-level executives into one place gives you tremendous opportunity to talk to them, showcase the state, and help them understand why it's such a great place to do business," Eccles said.
Eccles says executives from the medical device industry show up.
Friday, Eccles met with several site selectors - which help companies that are looking to relocate.
"It's always easier to discuss things in a more casual setting and Sundance provides the perfect medium for that," Eccles said.
GOED and Zions Bank are partnering Saturday to host the fourth-annual Sundance Film Festival Business Connection at the Montage Deer Valley. It is another way to bring Utah business leaders and executives from afar together to network.
