CORNISH, Utah (AP) -- A sheriff's official says no one was hurt when a freight train hit a tractor-trailer hauling sand at a crossing in a town near the Utah-Idaho border.
Cache County sheriff's spokesman Matt Bilodeau tells the Herald Journal of Logan the Union Pacific train was traveling about 20 miles per hour when it hit the trailer about 10:20 a.m. Thursday at a crossing near the Cornish City Hall.
The Herald Journal reports the truck belongs to a Smithfield company and the driver is from the Preston area. He wasn't injured.
The newspaper reports there are no crossing arms at the intersection.
Bilodeau says sand spilled and the truck was left on its side, but the train was able to travel and no train cars were seriously damaged.
