Ashley Hayes ReportingIt is hot outside and getting hotter. And for residents of Salt Lake County rehabilitation center, there's no escape from the heat; even indoors.

An 89-year-old woman is being treated at St. Mark's Hospital this afternoon for dehydration. Her son says she is sick because Wasatch Valley Rehabilitation Center, where she lives, has been operating without air conditioning for the past several days.

He is angry management never called him or his family to tell them about the problem.

So we contacted Wasatch Valley to ask them about the situation, they sent us a statement saying, "Resident care and safety is our number one concern. Our air conditioning system is not working at its optimal level. We have called in a repair service and the manufacturer of the unit and they have been working on the system."

They say repairs will be finished by the end of the day, and that they have brought in fans to circulate the air. They also say they're closely monitoring their residents and giving them plenty of fluids.

The man who called us did not want to go on camera and is in the hospital with his mother. He's worried about other residents, and says his mother is so sick she's incoherent and throwing up. He told us she was so dehydrated last night, they could not get an IV in her and that's why she had to be hospitalized.
