(KSL News) -- Salt Lake County has found a new way to keep track of non-violent criminals without putting them in jail.
The County's first day reporting center opened today in downtown Salt Lake. The center will track non-violent misdemeanor offenders, getting them the help they need and making sure they stay out of trouble.
The new center will free beds in the jail and cut down on costs associated with housing prisoners.
