LEHI, Utah (AP) -- The Utah Transit Authority may have to prepare for speeding tickets when commuter trains begin whizzing through Lehi in 2015.
A city ordinance from the 1990s limits train speeds to 30 mph in city limits.
That's well below the 79 mph often used by FrontRunner diesel commuter trains.
FrontRunner is meant to move passengers quickly. It currently travels between Salt Lake City and Ogden in northern Utah.
Southern service through Utah County is due to begin in about four years.
Lehi police Sgt. Kenny Rose tells Provo's Daily Herald that if the city can't resolve the train speed issue, officers may pull out radar guns.
Rose says trains can't be pulled over, but tickets bearing engine numbers could be sent to the transit authority.
