WEST VALLEY CITY -- A fire in West Valley City forced a family from their home.

Firefighters say four people were inside the home near 3600 South and 6900 West when smoke detectors started going off around 4 a.m. All four people got out safely.

Firefighters say the fire started in a utility room housing a furnace. Smoke damage in that room will keep the family out of their home for at least one day.
