(KSL News) A motorcyclist who was not wearing a helmet is in serious condition following an accident on I-15.

According to the Highway Patrol, the man and his wife were traveling south on I-15 in Layton when they hit a tire in the middle of the freeway. The man was thrown from the bike. He was flown to the hospital with a head injury.

His wife, who was wearing a helmet, had minor injuries. She is expected to be OK.

We heard on our scanners several other motorcycle accidents on Sunday. Again, police want to remind people that as the weather gets warmer, we'll see more motorcyclists and bicyclists, so be aware of them on the roads.
