OREM -- A couple faces charges for allegedly trying to pass counterfeit money at a Winco grocery store in Orem.
According to the Deseret News, police arrested Bryon and Julie Gammon at their home late last week.
Investigators say the Gammon's counterfeiting scheme fell apart when the clerk at Winco felt the money wasn't right and confronted the Gammons about it. They grabbed the money and fled the store.
Police used the store's surveillance video to identify the couple and arrested them.
Investigators say Bryon Gammon, 44, admitted to making several $20 and $50 counterfeit bills using a scanner and printer. They say he used the bogus money at several stores and gas stations including KMart, Winco, Sonic, Sears and Little Caesar's Pizza.
Julie Gammon, 35, admitted to knowing her husband was counterfeiting money. She also is being investigated for possession of drug paraphernalia. The paper reports she has previously spent time in prison for forgery and drug charges.
The couple will have their first hearing Oct. 18.
