SUMMIT COUNTY -- Search and rescue crews have found two elk hunters who were reported missing in the Uinta Mountains Saturday night.
According to Summit County Sheriff Dave Edmunds, both men, who were from separate parties, were found safe Sunday. The first man, 67-year-old Dan Egbert, walked away from his camp in the Gilbert Meadows area Saturday and became separated from his group when it grew dark.
Crews were particularly concerned about his health. Fortunately, Egbert was prepared for the cold. Crews used a bloodhound to help track him down Sunday morning.
"We are always concerned this time of year when people go missing in the high Uintas from a warmth perspective," Edmunds said. "[There's] a lot of concern always when someone goes missing. There's many things that could happened. There are a lot of wild animals up there as well."
A 30-year-old man was helping pack out an elk out of the China Meadows area, but failed to meet up with his hunting companions Saturday afternoon. Searchers say he was equipped to spend the night outdoors, and had food and water.
He was found in good condition Sunday afternoon.
