(KSL News) -- A man driving a car hit by a train died in Utah County this afternoon.
Police say the 84-year old man was trying to cross railroad tracks on 400 South in Springville when his car was hit.
Officers say he apparently didn't see the flashing lights and signals warning the train was coming. He slammed on his brakes, plowing through the warning signals and stopping on the tracks.
The train then hit his car, spinning it into a pole.
The man was flown to the hospital in critical condition, but died a short time later.
