LEHI -- Main Street in Lehi is going to be closed for a week of construction work on a commuter rail crossing.
The Utah Transit Authority says the closure between 300 West and the 500 West roundabout is scheduled from 5 a.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Oct. 4.
UTA Project Manager Steve Myer says the closure is necessary for Utah Transit and Union Pacific crews to work on the FrontRunner line to Provo.
Plans call for upgrading the crossing to meet safety standards allowing trains to no longer have to sound horns in the area.
Zach Batty owns Picasso Motors on Main Street.
"Obviously, it's going to affect our business," Batty said. "But we're staying open, and we'll just get through it."
The new FrontRunner line will run 45 miles from downtown Provo to Salt Lake City, with stations in Murray, South Jordan, Lehi, American Fork, Orem and Provo.
It'll connect to the existing FrontRunner line to Ogden.
