PROVO -- A Provo judge has refused to lower bail for a woman accused of driving under the influence and causing a fatal crash.

Police say Diane Mott swerved into the median and back across Interstate 15 before slamming into another car on Sept. 2. The driver of that car, 71-year-old Brice Mickelsen, died.

Mott faces charges of driving under the influence and automobile homicide.

The Daily Herald reports that despite pleas from her family during a court appearance Tuesday, the judge decided to keep Mott on a $100,000 cash-only bail. He said even though it's Mott's first DUI, he can't risk the public's safety.
