NEW YORK, Oct 31, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Lauren Kennedy has signed on to play the Lady of the Lake in "Monty Python's Spamalot" this winter.
Kennedy is set to begin performances Dec. 20, the same night Simon Russell Beale is scheduled to assume the role of King Arthur, producers for the Tony Award-winning musical said in a statement Monday.
The actress recently starred as Nellie Forbush in Trevor Nunn's revival of "South Pacific" at London's Royal National Theatre.
Her Broadway credits include "Les Miserables," "Sunset Boulevard" and "Side Show."
Based on the classic big-screen comedy, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," "Spamalot" is a musical version of the well-worn Arthurian legend with book and lyrics by Eric Idle, music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, direction by Mike Nichols and choreography by Casey Nicholaw.
