SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A Democrat is joining Republicans who want the district attorney to investigate Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson for possible misuse of public funds.

Salt Lake County Democratic Party chairwoman Megan Risbon sent a letter to David Yocum today officially requesting an investigation. She says if a public official has done something wrong she believes they should be investigated.

Risbon acknowledges her letter could offend Anderson but says investigations of wrongdoing should not be made along party lines.

Republican County Chairman James Evans sent a letter to Yocom last week asking him to check into Anderson expenditures. Specifically, Anderson paying for a tab that included alcohol for a dinner group he hosted this past July. As well as allowing his girlfriend and others to join a city-sponsored trek to Torino, Italy, to deliver the mayor's Olympic message.

The district attorney's spokesman says a decision to investigate hasn't been made and won't be until Yocom, who is out of town all week, is back and reviews the matter.
