SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A passenger is dead after the car he was in swerved to avoid a dog on Interstate 70 and crashed.

The Utah Highway Patrol says the crash happened about 4:15 p.m. Saturday near the exit to Cisco in eastcentral Utah.

The patrol says that the driver swerved to miss the dog and that sent the car into a roll. A male passenger was ejected through the sunroof and died at the scene.

The driver was hospitalized with injuries.

No names were immediately available.
