MENAN, Idaho -- A Utah boy who attended a parade in Idaho Monday was run over by a float. It happened in Menan, which is located just north of Idaho Falls.
Local sheriff's deputies say the 6-year-old was riding on the back of the vehicle that was towing the float in an Independence Day parade. For some reason he jumped off and was then hit by the float.
Two deputies and a person riding on the float gave the boy first aid until emergency responders arrived.
The boy was taken to a local hospital with serious head injuries. He was, however, conscious and breathing when he was transported.
Deputies say an Idaho Falls company entered the float in the parade.
