KEARNS -- Students at Beehive Elementary School in Kearns had some special guests on their playground Friday.

Officers with the Unified Police Department took time away from work to come play games with the kids.

"I think it's real important for kids to know that police are parents and adults just like all other adults in the community, and you can approach them and talk to them and play games just like you would with your own parents," Capt. Jon Fassett with the Unified Police Department.

The Unified Police Department has also teamed up with the Sports Authority to provide 100 needy kids at Beehive Elementary with new coats and shoes later this year.
