UTAH COUNTY -- A 69-year-old fisherman died after his boat capsized on Utah Lake.
Jack Turner and his 16-year-old grandson were about 300 yards from the shore on the west side of the lake Friday morning when Turner stood up to clear a snagged line, causing the boat to capsize.
Utah County sheriff's Lt. Dave Bennett said Turner was not wearing a life jacket, but the grandson was.
The grandson managed to toss his grandfather some sort of floating device. The teen then swam to shore and ran a mile to get help.
He found a fellow fisherman, who called 911. When state park boats arrived, Turner was floating face down in the water.
Officials administered CPR but could not revive him. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
