HUNTINGTON, Utah (AP) -- Crews in Emery County have recovered the body of a 20-year-old man who drowned in Huntington Lake in central Utah on Sunday.
Emery County Sheriff Lamar Guymon says sonar equipment and divers located the body of Joseph Ray Hoover of Huntington Sunday night.
The man was reported missing Sunday afternoon. Friends reported he was swimming with others to a small island about 400 yards from the shore when he disappeared below the surface.
Guymon says a woman tried to pull the man to shore, but couldn't.
The water temperature in the lake was estimated at about 50 degrees. Guymon says Hoover was not wearing a life jacket. Hoover's body was found in water about 10 feet deep.
