OREM, Utah (AP) -- Education officials are weighing whether or not Utah Valley State College should turn into a university.
Over the next year, officials will study the possibility of turning the college into a university.
According to a report, written by consultant James Phelps, students would benefit greatly if the school turn into a university. The Phelps' report says employers give greater preference to candidates with degrees from universities than colleges.
Officials say in order to become a university, U-V-S-C would have to offer graduate degrees and increase the number of full-time faculty.
Utah Higher Education Commissioner Richard Kendell says although he doesn't know the exact price tag, he says it would NOT be cheap for the school to become a university.
Education experts will start the study in November.
