Meteorologist Dina Freedman reporting Fall is less than a week away and there has been a bit of a chill in the air, but that's not all.

You could say the south wind today blew in some warmer temperatures. But when the wind starts blowing, the pollen starts flying, and that leads to seasonal allergies for many Utahns.

Martha Marchena/ Allergy Sufferer: "My eyes get really irritated and I get more of a runny nose."

Sound familar? About 26 million Americans suffer from seasonal allergies, which can can become a bit of a nuisance.

Dr. Alan Bitner/ Allergist: "Sort of typical for hay fever, which would be allergic rhinitis. That's a runny nose, sneezing, itchy, watery eyes. We'll also see asthma be triggered by weed allergies as well."

This fall allergy season is slightly worse than normal, but it looks like we will just have to deal with it until we get a few nights of freezing temperatures.

Tis the season to be sniffling. Above average rainfall amounts early this summer have led to an abundance of weed pollen.

Dr. Alan Bitner: "Normally weeds start in August. But this year weeds started in June. Now they are hitting pretty heavy, primarily sagebrush, ragweed and some other common weeds."

Shawn Johnson/ Allergy Sufferer: "I'm pretty good right now, but I just took some medicine. I would probably be struggling though, if not."

Over the counter medicines are a good bet to help with allergy symptoms. Or you could avoid the outdoors, but then you'd miss all that beautiful fall weather.

If your allergies are starting to alter your activities, then it's probably time to visit the doctor.
