ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- Police are investigating a lead that Misty Dawn Wilson, 15, missing since Aug. 26, has been seen at the McDonald's restaurant in Hurricane.

"We have some information, and we are following that and trying to solidify the information," St. George Police Department reserve officer Steve Despain said.

Police believe Wilson is a runaway and may have left home with a family acquaintance, Despain said.

The girl's parents, Laura and Steve Wilson, reported her missing to police on Sept. 1 after spending several days trying to find their daughter on their own. The couple believes their daughter may be with a 29-year-old man who had been living in a LaVerkin RV park at the same time as the Wilsons.

Steve Wilson last saw his daughter Aug. 26 at a LaVerkin gas station. The family friend was also at the gas station that night, he said.

"No one saw them leave together, but he's gone, and so is she," Steve Wilson said.

No Amber Alert was issued for Misty Wilson because the circumstances of her disappearance don't meet all of the criteria for an alert, including that the child is believing the child was abducted, has a mental or physical disability and is believed to be facing imminent harm.
