Today, I will be talking about one of Utah's oldest companies. It's been in existence, under several different names, since 1888. Now that's what I call longevity!
Strong & Hanni, one of Utah's most respected and experienced law firms, originally opened as Booth and Lee in 1888. The practice came under its current management in 1962 when Gordon Strong and Glenn Hanni partnered up. Gordon had already established the firm's reputation as a premiere insurance defense firm, which he and Glenn continued to build upon. Gordon passed away unexpectedly in 1969, but Glenn's leadership, guidance and foresight helped Strong & Hanni become one of the top full-service law firms in the state.
Today, Strong & Hanni, located in the Triad Center in downtown Salt Lake City, provides a wide range of expertise in both business and personal legal services. This includes commercial litigation; business, securities and tax matters; employment and construction law; government, product and professional liability; and aviation law. The firm can also assist businesses with contract work, day-to-day operations and legal consultation and litigation.
Catherine Larson, firm president and managing partner, has been with Strong & Hanni since 1993. Over the years, she watched the firm more than double in size to include 52 lawyers and she says that recently the company has formulated distinct practice groups within the firm that specialize in various legal areas. This enables the firm and its employees to work within a specific focus and then attract the desired clientele.
One of the distinguishing characteristics of Strong & Hanni is the entrepreneurial spirit it encourages. Catherine says this is what has developed the firm's strong culture and has upheld its reputation over the years.
