SANDY -- A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for vandalism at a Sandy cemetery.

According to the Deseret News, an unknown donor came forward to offer the $2,500 reward after hearing about the three statues of Jesus Christ that had all or part of their heads knocked off over the weekend.

Workers at Larkin Sunset Gardens discovered the damage Monday morning.

Cemetery spokesman Spencer Larkin says the statues can't be repaired and will have to be replaced. He says the statues were imported from Italy about 40 years ago. The statues are valued at between $40,000 and $80,000 apiece.

Police say so far they have no leads in the case. If you have any information on who may have been involved, contact the Sandy Police Department at 801-840-4000.
