(KSL News) One bill making its way through the Legislature would give teachers more options in talking to students about birth control.

Currently state law prohibits teachers from discussing birth control with students without parental consent. It also tells teachers not to "advocate or encourage the use of contraceptive methods or devices."

The new bill would change that, while still keeping abstinence at the core of the state's sex education curriculum.
