LEHI, Utah (AP) -- The Utah State Health Department is forming a task force to investigate a possible Lyme disease-carrying tick infestation in Lehi.
The agency's action comes in response to concerns by some north Lehi residents that Lyme disease cases appear to be greater than the national norm.
Some residents say they're afraid to let their children go outdoors to play.
State epidemiologist JoDee Summers says there have not been any confirmed cases of Lyme disease contracted in Utah.
But she says officials plan to conduct testing to determine what types of ticks are in Utah and if they are capable of carrying Lyme disease.
Summers says officials also plan to educate people about the issue.
Lyme disease is caused by bacteria transmitted by tick bites.
