BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK — If you live near Bryce Canyon National Park, you’ll soon have a chance to work there.

A special new hiring authority, officially known as the Contiguous to the Area Appointing Authority, will allow park officials to fill open positions with people who live within 50 miles of the park, according to an emailed statement.

“Being able to utilize this local hiring authority will be a great benefit to the park and Garfield County residents as we work to fill critical needed positions,” park superintendent Linda Mazzu said in the statement.

The new program will be used to hire people for technical, maintenance and clerical positions that do not have a potential for promotion, park officials said. People who apply for the jobs also must have lived at their current residence for at least two years.

Job postings can be found on the park’s official website and at usajobs.gov.
