ST. GEORGE — A man died early Sunday morning after he was hit by a car as he tried to walk across I-15.
The man was driving a Chevy Uplander on I-15 south in St. George at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday when he lost control of the car, Utah Highway Patrol officials said. The vehicle rolled and crashed near Exit 8. It was unknown why the man lost control of the vehicle, UHP officials said.
The man then got out of the car and began walking north on the shoulder of the freeway.
Near mile marker 9, the man tried to cross from the east side of I-15 to the west side. A Nissan Sentra traveling south hit the man as he crossed the roadway.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan had minor injuries.
UHP said the man was from Mexico and does not have any family in the state. UHP officials did not release the man's name because they were still notifying his friends and family members.
