SALT LAKE CITY — A man is in police custody after officials said he allegedly pointed a gun at a woman on Sunday morning near the Jewish Community Center at the University of Utah.
U. officials sent out a text message campus alert about the incident at about 12:23 p.m. They sent out a news release about ten minutes later.
The release said the man was driving a white Mercedes wagon when he brandished the gun at a woman who was getting out of her car in the parking lot.

It said he was last seen off campus near the intersection of 3300 South and I-15. At about 3 p.m. Sunday, University officials reported that the man had been arrested in Murray.
The release described the man as between 30 and 35 years old with curly brown hair. Officials also said he was wearing a brown jacket.
The release said the car has a Utah arches license plate on the back, but no front license plate. It also has tinted windows and a sunroof.
The woman involved was not a student, officials said.
Anyone with information is asked to call University of Utah police at 801-585-2677. The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating the incident.
