SANDY — Unified Police officers are seeking the public’s help in locating a 1-year-old boy who was picked up by his father Friday morning and not returned in the evening.

Blas Valdez, 24, agreed to return his son, Elias Valdez, to his family by 5 p.m. Friday, Unified police said via a series of tweets. As of 11:15 p.m., the boy had not been returned.

The boy’s family is concerned about Blas Valdez’s mental state, making locating the boy an urgent matter, UPD said.

Elias is missing from his home near 900 East Platinum Way.

Blas Valdez was last seen driving a light blue 2010 Volkswagen CC with Utah license plate number W798SZ.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Elias or Blas Valdez is asked to contact Unified police at 801-743-7000.
