SALT LAKE CITY — A person suspected in the homicide of a woman killed in a motel Tuesday was arrested on unrelated charges while two persons of interest remain at large, police said Thursday.

The individual arrested will be identified once formal charges are released, Salt Lake police said in a press release.

Police responded to a report of a suspicious death at the Gateway Inn, 819 W. North Temple, shortly after 8:40 a.m Tuesday after a woman, Mechelle Lindberg, 25, of Pleasant Grove, was found dead inside a motel room, according to Salt Lake police detective Greg Wilking.

Lindberg's death was later ruled a homicide.

Police are still searching for two other persons of interest, Kristie Marie Hansen, 26, and Javier Rodriguez Pena, 29, in relation to the case. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the two are encouraged to call Salt Lake police at 801-799-3000.
