SALT LAKE CITY — The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of a thief authorities have dubbed the “Double Hat Bandit."

The man, who was named for wearing two hats during his crimes, is responsible for at least 13 bank robberies in Utah, Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Idaho, according to the FBI. The robberies took place in December 2016 and January, June and July 2017.

The man is between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet 1 inch tall and is 50 to 60 years old, the FBI said. He is Caucasian and has white facial hair.

The robberies took place at banks inside grocery stores. The man usually shows the bank teller a note, and during four of the robberies, he was carrying a small handgun, according to the FBI. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

After one bank robbery in Spokane, Washington, in June, the man was seen in a gray or blue Chevrolet Malibu-style vehicle with New Mexico license plates.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to call the FBI tip line at 801-579-6480.

Denver Crime Stoppers also is offering a separate reward of up to $2,000 for information about the man.
