SALT LAKE CITY — Most of the time, eating is its own reward. But every once in a while, an enterprising restaurateur will turn this everyday activity into a competition, bringing in patrons from miles around, hoping to eat their way to fame and fortune.

Here are seven restaurants across the state of Utah where it pays to eat:

Angie's, Logan - The Kitchen Sink ($12.99)

Angie's serves an enormous banana split that incorporates over half a gallon of ice cream, two whole bananas and three toppings of the customer's choice, all served in an actual kitchen sink. If you manage to "clean the sink", you'll get a bumper sticker to proudly proclaim to the world that "I cleaned the sink at Angie's."

This could get messy. But we promise it'll be worth it.

Fox's Pizza Den, Logan- The Big One ($38.99)

This challenge is so extreme, you need to call ahead two hours in advance and bring a partner. Square off against this 30-inch pizza, which must be eaten in under one hour by two people.

If the team is successful, both teammates get a T-shirt, their picture on the wall and one free pizza a week for a year. In all of 2015, Fox's Pizza Den only saw one winner.

Lucky 13 Bar and Grill, Salt Lake City - Lucky 13 Burger Challenge ($36)

Face off with two burgers, both with 28-ounces of beef, and one with a pile of roasted habaneros, jalapenos, and a habanero puree. If you devour the entire concoction in under an hour, the burger is on the house and you'll walk away with $200 for your efforts. For the more ambitious eater, try and beat the current record time (12 minutes) for a prize of $1,000.

Sensuous Sandwich, Provo and Orem - 24 inchers Club ($15.59)

If you can devour a 2-foot sub of your choice in under 30 minutes, the only stipulation being that it must have meat and cheese on it, you'll earn yourself a T-shirt. But not just any T-shirt. This one entitles you to free fountain drinks whenever you wear it. And if you beat the current record time of 1 minute and 37 seconds, your sandwich is free. See this champion inhale all 2 feet in under 2 minutes.

Are you in our 24" Club? You, too, could be on the Wall of Awesome, if you are up to the challenge! Eat 24", by yourself in under 30 minutes and you are in! Come see us for more details!

The Burger Stop, Layton - The Deuce Challenge ($20.48)

The Burger Stop presents "The Deuce", so named for its massive 2-pound heft. The burger is composed of five beef patties, five slices of cheese, two strips of bacon, lettuce, tomato and onion rings all crammed between two buns. Conquer The Deuce by yourself in under 30 minutes and you'll leave the premises with a T-shirt and bragging rights.

Chubby's, Pleasant Grove - Chubby Challenge ($12.99)

Chubby's lives up to its name and presents you with a daunting task: Eat a 1-pound burger along with a pound of French fries in 15 minutes. If you win, your meal is free and you get your picture proudly presented in Chubby's Hall of Fame. Beware however, for should you fail to reach your goal, you must pay for the burger and your picture hangs in the Hall of Shame.
