JUMANJI — Even before his death last year, Robin Williamswas often copied in homage. His motormouth, nonstop style and his singular movements made him ripe for impressionist picking.
While I know nothing about actually creating a good impression, I know that most impressions I see of Williams turn into nonsense speed-talking, eye squinting and quick foot movements, without too many ties to his actual canon of characters.
And that’s what sets Vine user Jamie Costa slightly apart — doing impressions of characters that Williams played. Well, that and he also looks like he could be Williams’ long-lost son. It’s truly uncanny at times.
An aspiring actor, Costa posts most of his impressions on Vine, but he recently stitched together a bunch of his Vine videos into a longer homage of delight. He channels Mork, Popeye, Mrs. Doubtfire and many more, adding costumes, hair and props to take each short impression to the next level.
But there’s nothing anyone can say to describe the quality of an impression, so I’m afraid you’re just going to have to watch the video and judge for yourself.
Costa is not limited to impressions of Robin Williams. His Vine page includes fun impressions of Indiana Jones, Owen Wilson, Matthew McConaughey and, my personal favorite so far, Gandalf officiating a wedding.
