SALT LAKE CITY — If you’re looking forward to the presidential primary election next week, Tuesday is the last day to register to vote online or in-person at a county clerk’s office in Utah.

Utah will join Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, and Virginia as states holding their presidential primary on March 3, which is commonly referred to as Super Tuesday.

Anyone seeking to register to vote must be a U.S. citizen, have been a Utah resident 30 days before the day of the election, and be 18 years old on or before the election. Utahns can still register to vote at a polling location on March 3. Those seeking to register on Election Day must provide identification and proof of residency, such as a utility bill, to receive a provisional ballot.

Those seeking to vote in the Republican primary must register as a Republican when they register; the Democratic primary is open to those within its party and unaffiliated voters. The deadline for those currently registered as an unaffiliated voter to receive a Democratic ballot in the mail is also Tuesday.

Those who have received a ballot in the mail already have until the Monday before the election to send the ballots back in the mail. Vote-by-mail ballots can also be returned to a designated drop box location on Election Day.
