TOOELE — A Heber City man was charged Thursday with raping a teenage girl he met on social media.

Ruben Armando Flores, 20, is charged in 3rd District Court with two counts of rape, and one count of forcible sodomy, all first-degree felonies.

On Aug. 15, Tooele County sheriff’s detectives began investigating an assault of a 17-year-old girl who said she was assaulted that day, according to a probable cause statement for Flores’ arrest warrant filed in 3rd District Court. The girl told police she met Flores on Facebook two weeks earlier and they planned to go on a first date that day.

The two went to a park where they took a walk to “talk and get to know each other.” But when they reached a maintenance building, Flores pulled down the girl’s pants and raped her, according to the warrant. The girl said she told Flores she did not want to have sex with him, to which he allegedly replied, “We will see about that.”

The girl told police that she “was in shock” and “scared” and did not try to fight Flores off, and went to dinner with him after. After dinner, Flores drove the teen to a road near a canyon and raped her again in his car, the warrant states.

When interviewed by police, Flores said the sex was consensual. Deputies noted in their affidavit that Flores was convicted of rape in 2016, when he would have been either 17 or 18.
