After a 7-year-old migrant girl died this week following her trek to the United States, former Republican congressman Jason Chaffetz says the message to other migrants thinking about making the same trip should be “Don’t make this journey; it will kill you.”
2. 2 arrested after woman found dead from apparent hit-and-run in West Valley City, police say
Police arrested a man and a woman after a 36-year-old woman was killed in an apparent hit-and-run that took place early Sunday morning near 2855 W. 3785 South in West Valley City.
3. Driver critically injured after boulder crashes through windshield
A Layton man was critically injured Saturday afternoon when a boulder fell off the side of a mountain and crashed through the windshield of the truck he was driving.

2. BYU basketball falls in OT classic to UNLV, 92-90 in series' first game since 2011
Yoeli Childs had 25 points and 11 rebounds, but Noah Robotham drained a 3-pointer with no time on the clock in overtime to lift the Runnin’ Rebels to a 92-90 victory Saturday night in the Neon Hoops Showcase at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
3. Runnin' Utes drop road contest against No. 19 Kentucky, fall 88-61
Ten first-half turnovers and poor first-half shooting (41.4 percent) doomed Utah in a 88-61 loss to the Wildcats.
4. Jazz go cold in Mexico in loss to Magic
Ricky Rubio had two wide open 3-point attempts in the final minutes of the Saturday’s matinee in Mexico City. Both of them hit the front of the rim.

5. BYU swept by top-ranked Stanford in NCAA volleyball semifinals
National player of the year candidate Kathryn Plummer had 12 kills, and Audriana Fitzmorris added 11 kills and nine blocks to lead top-ranked Stanford to a 25-15, 25-15, 25-18 win over No. 4 BYU in the NCAA national semifinals Thursday night at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
