CLEARFIELD — A 15-month-old Sunset girl was flown by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Hospital after being hit by a car Friday evening.
Clearfield Police Chief Greg Krusi said Paisley Padilla's grandmother was baby-sitting the girl and a few other children in a Clearfield mobile home park when she was hit.
Krusi said someone was lost in the area and pulled up to the trailer to ask the child's grandmother for directions.
"He then left, backed out to leave, and ran into a little girl that was behind his vehicle," he said. "It simply appeared to be an accident where an individual failed to spot the tot."
Paisley's medical condition was not released Friday, but Krusi said she had visible injuries to her right leg, right arm and forehead.
"The child at the time she was transported was crying, was conscious, was alert," he said, "which are always good signs."
The driver was not cited at the time of the accident, and Krusi said no alcohol or substance abuse was involved.
"We do ask the public with weather conditions getting better, lots of people out and about, lots of children out and about, before you pull out of a driveway or anything else, you've always got to check," he said. "Make certain there's no small children that maybe have come behind your vehicle."
