STREAMINGTON — April means the weather is getting warmer and we want to spend more time outside.

But sometimes it rains or maybe we just want to be lazy and stay inside. If that is your decision that’s just fine, because there are some good new streaming titles this month that would make an evening in pretty great.

Netflix

"All the President’s Men" (Available now)

The 1976 classic about Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein uncovering the Watergate scandal is now on Netflix for all to enjoy. It’s an essential watch for film buffs and a great piece of film history that retells an important moment in U.S. history.

"I Am Legend" (Available now)

Will Smith’s track record has been a little hit and miss the last few years, but 2007’s “I Am Legend” is one of his better films. I don’t really care that it’s on Netflix because I own it, but for the rest of you this is great news.

The film is full of scares, emotion and entertainment. This one is not for the faint of heart, but it provides a great thrill ride you don't have to leave your couch to experience.

"The Sapphires" (Available April 26)

The 2012 movie “The Sapphires” isn’t one of the more well-known releases to streaming services in April, but it is a delightful one.

The film tells the story of an Australian Aboriginal all-girl singing group entertaining U.S. troops in Vietnam in 1968. The film has a lot of laughs and a lot of heart.

Chris O’Dowd plays the group's manager and really makes the film. If you want something new try out “The Sapphires.”

Hulu

"A Quiet Place" (Available now)

I cannot sing the praises of “A Quiet Place” enough and now you can enjoy it whenever you want on Hulu.

Not only did I give the film a glowing review, I also named it my favorite film of 2018. If you have avoided this movie because you don’t like scary movies please see it. There are some scares, but this is a movie about a family that happens to have some scares and is well worth your time.

If you don’t have Hulu but do have Amazon Prime, it’s streaming over there as well.

Amazon Prime Video

"The Shawshank Redemption" (Available now)

This is an all-time classic and I don’t think a lot needs to be said here. The film is beautiful, haunting and near-perfect.

If you’d like to watch this classic again and not have to sit through three hours of just commercials as it airs on cable then fire up your Amazon Prime and enjoy watching a truly incredible film at home.

“The Shawshank Redemption” is rated R for language and prison violence.

"The Addams Family" (Available now)

April was short on new releases for the whole family, which is too bad, but one offering is “The Addams Family.” The 1991 film is an adaptation of the TV series and is actually quite enjoyable.

The film hasn’t aged quite as well as we may have hoped, but it can still be a fun night with the family.
