SCARY ZOO — The zoo is a great place to take the family. The animals are beautiful to look at, there are always some fun activities, and kids never seem to manage that weird smell from the reptile room. If it had been my kids and me in this video, however, I may be a little wary of returning to the zoo, or at least the lion enclosure, any time soon.
This video was shot at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans at the lioness habitat. A mom sets her son in front of the glass so she can get a shot with him and the lioness lurking in the grass. It may make for a great snapshot, but that lioness has other things on her mind than pictures — she's thinking about lunch.
The lioness slowly creeps up behind the child and then stops in her tracks when the boy turns and looks at her. She then decides it's time and pounces at the boy only to be stopped by the glass.
It's crazy to watch the lioness go for the boy, but it's more impressive to see this child not react to the giant cat bounding at him. He just looks and moves on with his day. Then the mom seems to think 'we don't want our daughter missing out on the fun' and puts her baby girl in front of the lioness as well. The cat starts pawing at the glass and the mom laughs. But I'm guessing all that lion is thinking is: "Appetizers!"
The video is all in good fun because kids and animals were all safe, even though that lioness may have left a little hungry.
