LAYTON — A Utah man was arrested Monday with a duffel bag full of marijuana that police say had been brought in from California for distribution in Utah.
Justin Ray Oswald, 35, was booked into the Davis County Jail for investigation of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. Oswald, a Utah resident, has since posted bail.
Police had used a confidential informant to arrange to buy some of the pot from Oswald, including a purchase Monday, said Sgt. Brady Fitzpatrick of the Davis Metro Narcotics Strike Force.
Officers later stopped Oswald for a traffic violation as he was driving in Layton and seized a duffel bag containing 10 pounds of marijuana, making it one of the largest busts the agency has made this year, Fitzpatrick said.
Police learned Oswald was bringing the pot in from California and likely would have sold for more than $50,000 on the streets in Utah, Fitzpatrick said.
The investigation is ongoing.
